How We Can Help

How can help me overcome problematic anxiety and its sensations and symptoms?

Anxiety is a physiological, psychological, and emotional response to believing you might be in danger. Behaving apprehensively – imagining that something bad may happen to you, someone, or something you love or care about – creates the state of anxiety.

Worry – imagining someone or something may harm you, someone, or something you love or care about - is an example of apprehensive behavior.

Everyone is anxious from time to time. This is considered normal. Anxiety turns into a disorder, however, when anxiety and/or its sensations and symptoms interfere with a normal lifestyle. Moreover, anxiety disorder can also involve becoming afraid of how anxiety feels, becoming afraid of anxiety’s sensations and symptoms, and/or becoming afraid of how problematic anxiety might affect your life and future.

Because anxiety is caused by behavior, the most effective way to treat anxiety disorder is with the combination of good self-help information, support, and therapy.[1] Therefore, this is what we provide to those who want to address their struggle with problematic anxiety:

1. The latest in self-help information

The public pages of our website provide the latest in self-help information, education, and research on anxiety and anxiety disorder. This information can both educate and support anxiety disorder sufferers as they seek to overcome their struggle with anxiety issues.

This information is free to the general public.

2. Recovery Support

Overcoming anxiety disorder requires understanding anxiety, its sensations and symptoms, and its causes, as well as making the appropriate behavioural changes.

While the first step in the recovery process is acquiring good self-help information, many sufferers need ongoing support as they go about making healthy change. Because our experience has shown that a great many people don’t make satisfactory recovery on their own without ongoing information, help, and support, we created the Recovery Support of our website to fulfill this need while in the recovery process.

The Recovery Support area provides self-help information in greater detail than that of our public pages. It also offers ongoing support in many other ways, as well, including a vast library of Frequently Asked Questions about anxiety disorder and recovery, a private member’s discussion forum, and over 100 hours of recorded conversations between Jim Folk, his guests, member’s and coaching/therapy clients. Our members say that these recordings alone are well worth the price of membership. And, there’s so much more.

To help pay for the time and costs to maintain and grow the Recovery Support area, we charge a small monthly fee to those interested in seeking this type of support. For more information about what’s in the Recovery Support area, see our Recovery Support information page. If you’d like to become a member of our Recovery Support area, you can find our registration options here.

3. Personal Coaching/Counseling/Therapy

Our experience has also shown that many anxiety disorder sufferers require personal assistance to successfully treat their anxiety disorder. To that end, we also offer a Personal Coaching/Counseling/Therapy option to those who want personal help with their recovery. This professional service has become quite popular, since it has a high rate of effectiveness.[3]

Our Personal program allows individuals to work directly with a professional who has personally experienced and successfully overcome anxiety disorder in his or her own life. Our Personal Coaching/Counseling/Therapy program is specifically designed to help individuals regain their normal health, based on their unique behaviors, underlying factors, circumstances, and situations. Personal Coaching/Counseling/Therapy produces excellent results.[2] It is the most effective way to resolve anxiety disorder. It’s ideal for those who want help with a step-by-step approach to recovery or when self-help efforts have produced only limited results.

Our recommended therapists work with people from around the world via distanced coaching/counselling/therapy using the telephone or Internet phone, such as SKYPE. We’ve offered this service since 2004 and we’ve found it to be equal to, if not better than, face-to-face coaching/counselling/therapy. It’s been so successful, that almost all of our clients have moved to distanced coaching/counselling/therapy because they find it effective, convenient, and confidential. Recent research has also found ‘teletherapy’ to be equal to, if not more, effective than face-to-face.

To make our coaching/counselling/therapy services risk free, we don’t ask for a long-term commitment. If you want to work with one of our recommended therapists, you can start immediately. If you like our approach, you can continue to book sessions. If you find it’s not appropriate for you, you can stop at any time. We don’t lock you into anything you don’t want or find helpful.

All of us at have struggled with and have successfully overcome anxiety disorder. So we know how challenging overcoming problematic anxiety can be. But we also know that anyone can become successful, as we have, with the right information, help, and support.

The combination of good self-help information and working with an experienced anxiety disorder therapist, coach, or counselor is the most effective way to address anxiety and its many symptoms. Until the core causes of anxiety are addressed – which we call the underlying factors of anxiety – a struggle with anxiety unwellness can return again and again. Dealing with the underlying factors of anxiety is the best way to address problematic anxiety.

Variances can occur for many reasons, including due to the severity of the condition, the ability of the person to apply the recovery concepts, and the commitment to making behavioral change.
