Anxiety Therapy Coaching Counseling
Anxiety therapy, coaching, counseling information:
Webster’s dictionary defines anxiety as:
- A state of uneasiness and apprehension, as about future uncertainties; a state of apprehension, uncertainty, and fear resulting from the anticipation of a realistic or fantasized threatening event or situation, often impairing physical and psychological functioning.
Everyone is anxious from time to time. This is considered normal. Anxiety becomes a problem when it and its consequences interfere with a normal lifestyle.
Anxiety is caused by a style of behavior: apprehensive behavior.
Apprehensive is defined as: fearful that something bad or unpleasant might happen.
Behavior is defined as: ways in which a person thinks and/or acts.
Anxiety is caused by behavior: the ways we think and act in an apprehensive manner. Worrying about an upcoming situation or circumstance is an example of apprehensive behavior.
Apprehensive behavior stresses the body. Consequently, behaving anxiously can cause physiological, psychological, and emotional consequences. Learn more.
Quite often, people don't realize anxiety is a problem until they experience the negative consequences, which can include odd, unexplainable, and persistent symptoms. Oftentimes, anxious people think that their symptoms are the problem. But anxiety symptoms aren't the problem themselves. They are merely the indications (symptoms) of a problem with anxiety. Anxiety becomes a disorder when it and its consequences interfere with a normal lifestyle. Anxiety disorder can cause great hardship. This is often when people seek help to address their anxiety problem.
While self-help information can be helpful, research has found that the most effective way to address anxiety disorder is with the help of an experienced and professional anxiety therapist, counselor, or coach, and one who is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.[1] This is the reason Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the ‘Gold Standard’ for anxiety disorder treatment.

Our approach to anxiety therapy, coaching, counselling
Our anxiety therapists, coaches, and counselors work with you to identify the core causes at the root of a struggle with anxiety disorder. Then, they assist you in addressing them one at a time, as well as, support you throughout the process of recovery. Learn more about how our anxiety therapists, coaches, and counsellors and the approach they use are different from other therapists and types of therapy.
Our anxiety therapists, coaches, and counsellors use a variety of approaches, such as:
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) – – identifies and addresses the unhealthy behaviors that cause anxiety unwellness. CBT also teaches healthy coping skills, recovery tools, and strategies designed to assist in the treatment of anxiety disorder, such as containment and fear extinction, to name two.
Behavior Modification – modifying behavior decreases anxious behavior and increases a focus on the joys and pleasures in life. This change of focus emphasizes positive experiences and minimizes anxiousness.
Mindfulness Training - learning "in the moment" techniques that enhance peace and calm, which can counteract apprehensiveness.
Emotional Therapy – understanding and becoming in charge of emotions. Many anxious personalities go by how they feel a lot. Many also fear their emotions believing they can become uncontrollable. Emotional therapy teaches what emotions are, how to be in charge of them, and the correct role they should play in a person’s life.
Exposure Therapy – extinguishing fears require we confront them. But we believe this approach should only be used once a person is well equipped with healthy behavioral and coping skills. Exposure therapy is generally one of the last steps in overcoming established fears, which are common for anxiety disorder.
And many others.
All of these approaches (and others) are used by themselves, or in combinations, based on the client’s specific situations, circumstances, and struggle.
All of our anxiety therapists, coaches, and counselors use a talk therapy approach: talk about the issues involved through discovery, education, conversation, and on going support throughout the recovery process.
As we mentioned, research has found talk therapy (CBT) to be the most effective form of treatment for anxiety disorder.[2] This research agrees with our many years of practical experience helping people address problematic anxiety.
To help as many people as possible no matter where they live, our recommended anxiety therapists, coaches, and counselors offer tele-therapy: meeting with their clients via the telephone and/or Internet-based phone (such as using your computer like a phone or video phone utilizing free software such as Skype).
For those who are still interested in meeting face-to-face, some of our recommended anxiety therapists, coaches, and counselors offer in person meetings, as well.
