Dear Anxiety Centre,

I would like to share a bit of my experience so far with your website and work with an therapist.

For over 5 years, I experienced severe anxiety that was affecting my ability to work, my relationships with family and friends, and my ability to find enjoyment in activities I valued highly.

I had many anxiety symptoms, but the most troubling of them was severe heart palpitations. It got to a point where everything I did triggered palpitations and lead to panic attacks.

I saw my family doctor and a cardiologist and was told my palpitations were a result of stress. At that time, I was convinced I would have heart palpitations for the rest of my life. I was missing out on a lot of life due to my fear of triggering heart palpitations and panic attacks.

I read every book on anxiety I could find, and I attended therapy, but the anxiety and anxiety symptoms, along with depression, continued to dominate my life experience.

Thankfully, I found Wow! I dived into the symptoms chapter and could not believe how much information was there, and it made so much sense! Every symptom I experienced therapists or doctors could not explain was in there. The education about anxiety on the website was so very helpful, and the way it was presented was also very encouraging.

It was amazing to me at that time to think that I just needed to do the work, and I could be free from anxiety, and maybe, just maybe, even get rid of my heart palpitations. gave me hope. I started practicing some of the strategies in the Recovery Support area of the website and started to feel better. This online education helped me to begin learning how to stop fearing my symptoms and was the catalysis for my anxiety recovery journey.

Motivated by my desire to achieve full and lasting recovery, in March 2019, I started counseling with one of the’s therapists, Vince Urquhart.

From our very first session, he taught me effective strategies that I could start using right away to begin experiencing relief from my symptoms. This was so encouraging!

I have continued to meet with Vince regularly, and I have been steadily progressing in my recovery. Over the past year, with Vince’s support, I stopped having panic attacks, my anxiety symptoms gradually reduced, and in the past month, I have not experienced any anxiety symptoms (no heart palpitations!).

I have quality of life again. My days are filled with happiness, contentment, acceptance, and my body is relaxed and calm. I feel resilient and am confident that I can face any of life’s challenges. I am no longer living a life dominated by fear.

I am not saying it’s been an easy journey because it hasn’t been. But is the only program that provided me with the right kind of education, skills, tools, and encouragement I needed to manage my anxiety, and it’s symptoms, and to get my life back. I recommend this website and treatment with an therapist to anyone who is experiencing anxiety.  This is truly a great program!

The combination of good self-help information and working with an experienced anxiety disorder therapist, coach, or counselor is the most effective way to address anxiety and its many symptoms. Until the core causes of anxiety are addressed – which we call the underlying factors of anxiety – a struggle with anxiety unwellness can return again and again. Dealing with the underlying factors of anxiety is the best way to address problematic anxiety.
