Quick Fix Remedy And Miracle Cures For Anxiety Disorder

Anxiety Disorder Myth #13: Another common anxiety myth is you can eliminate anxiety disorder with a special ‘remedy’ or ‘quick-fix’ cure.
Anxiety disorder can feel awful, frightening, and overwhelming. It can also be powerful, greatly debilitating, and frustrating. So, it’s understandable to want anxiety disorder and how it feels to end as quickly as possible.
But due to the cause and consequences of problematic anxiety, there is no quick way to overcome anxiety disorder and its symptoms, especially when anxiety disorder reaches the moderate and above ranges.
Unfortunately, there are some people and organizations that want to capitalize on the desire for a quick-fix remedy or cure. Too often we’ve seen people and organizations offering ‘miracle’ cures and ‘quick-fix’ remedies for anxiety disorder. Sadly, many people fall victim to this misrepresentation.
Since anxiety disorder is caused by multifaceted and long-held behaviors (thoughts and actions), and since anxiety’s consequences can impact the body in a dramatic and long-lasting way, there is no way to quickly overcome or eliminate anxiety disorder and/or its stress response consequences once anxiety disorder reaches the moderate and above ranges. Successfully resolving these degrees of anxiety disorder most often require determined work, perseverance, and time.
Similar to getting a Masters Degree, overcoming anxiety disorder requires getting the right information, help, and support, as well as doing the right work and for long enough. None of which can be accomplished without the required amount of information, help, effort, and time.
Yes, there are many ways to reduce, and even eliminate, some of the symptoms of anxiety. But reducing and eliminating symptoms doesn’t mean you’ve eliminated your issues with anxiety. Anxiety symptoms are merely that: symptoms of a deeper problem.
Until the root of the problem is identified and successfully resolved, it will remain and continue to cause symptoms. Only when the core of the problem is identified and successfully addressed will the entire problem and its symptoms be eliminated. Any other approach will provide temporary, if any, relief.
Dealing with the root of the problem - anxiety’s underlying factors – eliminates the problem and its symptoms. This is the way to lasting success. None of this can be accomplished quickly.
How can believing this myth hamper recovery?
If you believe there is a quick-fix remedy or cure, you can spend a lot of time searching for and trying them only to find out none of them work over the long-term. Not getting sufficient or permanent relief may lead you to believe there is no hope for your anxiety, which could lead you to struggle long-term…and needlessly.
How can believing this myth make things worse?
If, after unsuccessfully trying all of the quick-fix cures and remedies, you conclude that your anxiety is beyond help, you might conclude that your situation is hopeless. Feeling hopeless is a common cause of anxiety and depression.
But if you believe anxiety is a behavior you can work at changing, that realization alone can bring hope, which can alleviate a great deal of unnecessary anxiety and feelings of being depressed.
