Just as many medications and stimulants can cause side effects and symptoms similar to anxiety symptoms, so can recreational drugs.

Moreover, some recreational drugs punish the nervous system, which includes the brain.

If you are experiencing anxiety disorder or hyperstimulation and its symptoms, recreational drugs can not only aggravate all of them but have the potential to sabotage and even reverse recovery.

Avoiding recreational drugs can prevent the aggravation of anxiety and hyperstimulation symptoms, as well as their interference with recovery from anxiety disorder and hyperstimulation.

The combination of good self-help information and working with an experienced anxiety disorder therapist is the most effective way to address anxiety disorder and its many symptoms. Until the core causes of anxiety are addressed - the underlying factors that motivate apprehensive behavior - a struggle with anxiety disorder can return again and again. Identifying and successfully addressing anxiety's underlying factors is the best way to overcome problematic anxiety.
