I've been trying to get in to see a therapist where I live, but most have really long waiting lists. What do I do in the meantime?
As the demand for mental health services increases, long waiting lists for suitable help is rising as well. Many parts of the world are experiencing long waiting lists for mental health care services. To address this problem, we have a couple of options:
The first option is to get help right away, rather than waiting. For example, we often have therapists that have openings. You could meet with one of our therapist within a day or so, if you choose this option (it usually doesn't take very long to get things arranged and started).
Based on the latest research, working with a therapist at a distance (teletherapy) using the telephone or Internet-based phone, such as Skype, is as effective if not more so than face-to-face therapy. This has been our experience, as well. So you can live in any part of the world and be able to access one of our therapists fairly quickly. Because we have therapists in different parts of the world, we can accommodate all time zones. Our therapists are comfortable working with time zone differences.
If you have a preference to meet face-to-face, you might want to try teletherapy just to see if you would like it. Most of our clients meet via teletherapy, and now they prefer it over face-to-face because of its effectiveness, convenience, and confidentiality.
A second option is to learn as much as you can about anxiety and work at faithfully applying the many natural and practical recovery strategies that can help reduce and eliminate anxiety and its symptoms, such as the ones we mention in the Recovery Support area of our website.

Because the most effective way to overcome anxiety disorder is with the combination of good self-help information and therapy, combining the above options is the best course of action.
So there is no reason to wait. You can start your recovery right away.
The combination of good self-help information and working with an experienced anxiety disorder coach, counselor, or therapist is the most effective way to address anxiety disorder and its many symptoms. Until the core causes of anxiety are addressed - the underlying factors that motivate apprehensive behavior - a struggle with anxiety disorder can return again and again. Identifying and successfully addressing anxiety's underlying factors is the best way to overcome problematic anxiety.
