Last
week we asked, “Are you living your 'authentic'
self?”
Those
who responded replied:
Yes,
always: 6%
Yes, most often: 29%
Yes, sometimes or on occasion: 50%
No, never: 15%
Thirty-five
percent of those who responded are living their “authentic” self
at least most of the time. Sixty-five percent of respondents
live their “authentic” self only sometimes or never.
That means that a little better than three out of ten respondents
thought that they were living out of their uniqueness at least
most of the time, and a little better than six out of ten weren’t.
Sadly,
approximately two-thirds of respondents are living below the
healthy range.
Stress,
anxiety, and depression can result when we aren’t living
authentically. While we may focus on our symptoms and think
that if we were only better we’d live a healthier life,
the reality is that we are symptomatic BECAUSE of how we’re
living, not the other way around. Remember: stress, anxiety,
and behavioral depression is something we CAUSE by our thoughts
and behaviors, not a disease we inherit or CATCH.
Many
of you have a number of reasons why you feel you can’t
live your “authentic” self, and those reasons may
seem real and even irresolvable. The sad truth, however, is
that you only have two choices in front of you:
- To
keep living the way you are and experience the same results,
or
- Make
positive change and experience new results.
If
you are happy with your present results, then no change is
required. If you’re unhappy with your present results,
positive change is the only option.
Because
of our own backgrounds, we understand how at some point in
your life you can wake up and find you don’t like your
life and the way you are living. We also understand how you
can feel powerless to change things. All of us (the folks at
anxietycentre.com) know this realization all too well. But,
we also know that positive change is doable, and that you can
work towards a healthier and happier way to live.
What
seems daunting now, may seem like a distant memory after some
positive change has occurred.
Next
week, we’re going to start providing a series of steps
that you can take to make that positive change. Yes, it will
require courage. And yes, it will take effort. But change can
occur, and often far easier than you might think.
Have
a great week. |
