Are
you living your "authentic" self? - January 31, 2007
Last
week, how did it feel to live out of your uniqueness (your
authentic self)? Did it feel uncomfortable? Did you enjoy it?
Did you experience the freedom that living authentically provides?
Living
out of your uniqueness means:
Exercising
your freedom
Living
life on your terms
Doing
what you are passionate about
Doing
what you are skilled and gifted at
Making
decisions based on what YOU want
Having
relationships based on YOUR terms
Living
assertively
Dressing
the way YOU want
Looking
the way YOU want
Doing
what is important to YOU
Feeling
good about yourself
Accepting
yourself for who you are, no matter the pluses and minuses
Chasing
the dreams that matter to YOU
Feeling
the way YOU want to feel
Having
a great relationship with yourself
Respecting
yourself
Living
your life with purpose; YOUR purpose
Living
the real YOU
Living
out of your uniqueness means living your “authentic” self
according to the direction and manner YOU decide, and based
on YOUR preferences–not based on the opinions, choices,
or preferences of others.
Living
out of your uniqueness brings freedom. It sets you free to
live your life the way you choose.
Authentic
living reduces stress, anxiety, and depression, and all of
the symptoms these behavioral disorders cause.
Unfortunately,
many people don’t live out of their uniqueness. They
frequently find themselves living life based on others’ terms,
choices, expectations, and preferences. They do their best
just to “get along,” or “get by,” and
may even find themselves really busy. But living life based
on THEIR terms seems like an unrealistic and unattainable dream.
This
week, we want to find out how many of you are living life based
on YOUR terms. So, are YOU living out of your uniqueness? Are
YOU living your “authentic” self?
[Sorry,
this poll is now closed.]
Have
a great week.
