We’ve
stated in earlier tips that:
- YOU
are responsible for your life, no one else is.
- YOU
are equal to everyone on earth. No one is more or less
valuable than another.
- YOU
are truly unique. There is no other “you” on
earth. There never has been and there never will be. You
are one of a kind.
Many
of us don’t think of ourselves that way, but each one
of us is a “one of a kind.”
As
a one of a kind, do you know who you “really” are?
Do you know what makes you truly unique? These may seem like
unnecessary questions, but many people don’t really know
who they truly are and what makes them unique.
Sure,
you may be living your life and doing things, but are you REALLY
living out of your uniqueness?
To
live out of your uniqueness, you need to discover what your
uniqueness is. This week, we’d like you to discover the “real” you.
The “you” that is waiting to burst through the
layers of “should’s,” “must’s,” and “have
to’s.”
For
example, list your talents, strengths, abilities, gifts, skills,
likes, opinions, physical attributes, weaknesses, shortcomings,
and dislikes. Set aside some alone time and list, then describe,
these attributes about yourself in as much detail as you can.
The more thorough you are, the better your results will be.
Once
you think you’ve thought of everything, ask others for
their perspective (family, friends, and co-workers). When you’ve
done this, combine your list and their responses and have a
look at “who” you really are.
Personal
discovery includes seeking to understand what makes you tick,
what you’re passionate about, what you’re good
at and what you’re not, what your natural gifts are,
what your perspectives and viewpoints are, what your dreams
are, what things you believe in, and how you’d like to
conduct your life. Knowing these facts about yourself will
help to clarify the “real” you–your
uniqueness.
We
hope you are pleasantly pleased with what you discover. Many
are. We also hope that you clearly see why you have good reason
to celebrate your uniqueness. Many of us are diamonds in the
rough, ready to be polished into priceless gems.
See you next week.
